The Diocese of Raleigh acquired these stations in 2013 from Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Philadelphia. The stations are approximately 80 years old and stand more than five feet high with rounded tops and approximately three feet wide with multi-colored depictions painted on a gold field. At the time of acquisition, they were in relatively good condition and luckily little restoration. They are unique in their portrayal of the passion and death of Jesus and can be located throughout the north and south loggias.
VI. Veronica Wipes the Face of JesusWe adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said, ”Hail, King of the Jews!” And they struck him repeatedly. John 19:1-3 Lord, grant us patience in times of suffering that we may offer our lives as a sacrifice of praise. Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. DONORMr. James Anthony |
