The Diocese of Raleigh acquired these stations in 2013 from Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Philadelphia. The stations are approximately 80 years old and stand more than five feet high with rounded tops and approximately three feet wide with multi-colored depictions painted on a gold field. At the time of acquisition, they were in relatively good condition and luckily little restoration. They are unique in their portrayal of the passion and death of Jesus and can be located throughout the north and south loggias.
IX. Jesus Falls for the Third TimeWe adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.’ At that time, people will say to the mountains, ‘F upon us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ for if these things are done when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?” Luke 23:27-31 Lord, grant us gentle spirits that we may comfort those who mourn. Lord Jesus, help us walk in your steps. DonorThis item is available to gift. Please send inquiries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. |
